Exposed CIA NOC & Husband File Lawsuit Against Cheney, Rove and Libby
July 14 , 2006 Washington Post
Exposed CIA NOC (Non-Operative Cover (think Mission Impossible)) Valerie Plame and her husband, Joe Wilson, filed a civil suit against Vice President Cheney, presidential advisor Karl Rove, and ex-vice presidential assistant I. 'Scooter' Libby. Plame and Wilson allege that the defendants revealed her identity in retaliation for an article Wilson wrote revealing that the Iraq-Niger yellow cake uranium story was false (Patrick Fitzgerald, special prosecutor, has already alleged in legal briefs). The couple plans to donate all proceeds (beyond legal costs).

Witness Lists Relased from Scooter Libby Defense Team
March 18, 2006
Potential witnesses for the 'Scooter' Libby defense team, referenced in court papers filed by Libby's lawyers and referenced in this story by the Associated Press. Witnesses listed are:
Richard Armitage, former deputy secretary of state.
Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary.
Marc Grossman, former undersecretary of state for political affairs.
Colin Powell, the former secretary of state.
Karl Rove, the deputy White House chief of staff.
George Tenet, the former CIA director.
Joseph Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador.
Valerie Plame Wilson, exposed CIA NOC, married to Joseph Wilson.
Stephen Hadley, the president's national security adviser.
A CIA briefer referred to in the indictment, though not by name. The court papers identify the person as "Craig Schmall, Peter Clement or Matt Barrett."
A senior CIA official referred to in the indictment, "who may be either Robert Grenier or John McLaughlin."
Former CIA spokesman Bill Harlow.
The defense seems hell bent on exposing the inner working of The White House and the intelligence services. Whether this is just a 'reminder' to the administration (that Libby can still make their life miserable) or an attempt to show that Libby was not the first to leak the name of Wilson to the press. The later theory talking to the fact that current National Security Advisor will be called as a witness.
Stephen Hadley was Deputy National Security Advisor under Rice at the time Plame's identity was leaked to the press. Bob Woodward (Assisting Managing Editor for The Washington Post) previously testified that he was told about Plame's identity and position in the CIA by a "senior administration official" 2 months prior to her name and identity was published. It is rumored that Stephen Hadley may have been that official.
The problem, as Federal Prosecutor Fitzgerald sees it, is that

Ex-Cheney Chief of Staff Libby
Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald continues his investigation into the the Valerie Plame (CIA NOC) case. Latest developments include the continued Iran-Contra tactics of the 'Scooter' Libby defense team. A recent ruling by the judge in the perjury/obstruction of justice trial leaves the door open for future soponeas of the currently classified daily Presidential and possible future aquittal based on the argument that a proper defense is not possible without such documention (Oliver North). Those familiar with the case say that the tactics used by ex-Oliver North attorney will most likely be in vain for multiple reasons. The first reason being the fact that Libby was in a very high level in the Bush administration and not necessarily just a, " foot soldier" -description used by Judge in final ruling of 1st Oliver North trial. The second reason being the fact that this is only a perjury/obstruction of justice case.
Scooter Libby to enlist Memory Loss Expert?
February 28, 2006
Scooter Libby's defense team has enlisted the help of Harvard psychology professor Daniel L. Schacter says NBC News. Schacter is expected to speak about memory-loss. Libby's lawyers write in a court filing last week: "...any misstatements he made during his FBI interviews or grand jury testimony were not intentional, but rather the result of confusion, mistake or faulty memory."
White House Emails Lost?
Feb 2, 2006
Scooter Libby's lawyers argued that documents essential to Libby's defense may have been lost. Special Prosecuter Fitzpatrick denies this allogation, "but the prosecutor added: "In an abundance of caution, we advise you that we have learned that not all e-mail of the Office of Vice President and the Executive Office of the President for certain time periods in 2003 was preserved through the normal archiving process on the White House computer system."
