April 22 Elections, What is the Government doing to Help the Dislocated Vote?
Elections in the New Orleans (April 22) and May 22 municipal elections threaten. The NAACP reports on May 21, 2006 ,"Although Louisiana election officials have announced plans to have satellite voting locations in the state outside of New Orleans for early voting only, they have refused to authorize satellite voting locations in several other states where a large number of New Orleans voters now live. Gordon noted that such centers were set up for Iraqi citizens temporarily living in the United States to vote in the recent Iraq national elections. “The citizens of New Orleans deserve no less a chance to participate in democracy than do Iraq citizens living abroad. Additionally, the NAACP plans to bus voters to New Orleans, if necessary.”See March 24th AP Story here.
The number of displaced voters has been approximated (see PFAW article here):
- San Antonio has, at minimum, 6,216 evacuee voters
- Dallas has a minimum of 10,220 evacuee voters
- Baton Rouge has a minimum of 31,268 evacuee voters
- And Houston has well over 45,000 evacuee voters
What Did the Bush Administration Know?
Recent Congressional hearings and this story and video from the Associated Press show that Bush knew more than the administration has led the American public to believe. This classic failure of an uncarring/unorganized administration proves that if you fail the first time, and the second, and maybe even the third you will always come out ahead in profit.

After An October 24, 2005 Newsweek magazine story was published on the apparant political manipulation of votes in Texas, Louisianna and Mississippi Democrats in the House sent this letter to Attorney General Gonzalez.
